“You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You're on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who'll decide where to go...”
― Dr. Seuss, Oh, The Places You'll Go!

The Salisbury Jaycees will host its 12th Annual Read Across America event 10:30 a.m. Saturday March 2nd, at the Wicomico Public Library.

The morning features local celebrities reading their favorite children's books as well as coloring activities and visits from the Cat in the Hat, Sherman the Shorebird, Buffalo Wild Wings mascot Jester and Saul the Salisbury Jaycees bear. The first 75 children in attendance receive a free book drama courtesy of the Eastern Shore literary Association.

Readers include WB OC news anchor Kimberly Wiggins, Salisbury fire Department assistant Chief Rob Frampton and Cpl. Mike Loring of the Salisbury Police Department.

All children attending will be entered into the door prize drawing for Dr. Seuss character stuffed animals and prizes from the Delmarva Shorebirds and Buffalo Wild Wings.

Held in connection with Dr. Seuss’s birth week, Read Across America is a nationwide children's literacy event sponsored by the National Education Association.

Admission is free and the public is invited.
