Soft Shell Half Century
Welcome to our friends who have come to this site seeking information on our inaugural Soft Shell Half Century! Since announcing the ride in early March, we have received numerous messages from riders via our Membership Application page notifying us that our event conflicts with the annual Shorebird Metric ride in Salisbury and asking if we would consider changing the date.
Unfortunately, due to the permits, facility contracts and equipment rentals necessary for the Soft Shell ride, along with registrations we have already received, we are unable to change the date this year. The ride will remain as originally scheduled. Having said that, we are certainly not trying to take anything away from the Shorebird Metric, which raises funds for a very worthy cause.
When we initially chose the date for the Soft Shell ride last December, we were unaware of the date of the Shorebird Metric. We selected May 24 since it corresponded with a pre-existing festival in Crisfield, the Soft Shell Spring Fair, which we hoped would give riders an additional reason to visit the area. We will make every effort to make sure the Soft Shell ride does not conflict with the Shorebird ride in 2009.
