Saturday May 26 of Memorial Weekend, it is the Soft Shell Metric Century Bike Ride in Crisfield, MD. Riders can download the registration form here. Jaycees Volunteers will be assigned a Bike Ride Rest Stop serving Gatorade, Peanut Butter Sandwiches and granola bars etc. Its going to be a fun event. Contact President Mike to sign up. See you there! PS We're also recruiting volunteers now for the Chicken Festival: June 15-16. We're cooking Delmarvalous BBQ Chicken at The Centre at Salisbury Mall!! Imagine waking up as a child on Christmas… and not receiving any presents. That could be a reality for some area children without the help of the Salisbury Jaycees.
Each year, the chapter takes some 200 underprivileged kids holiday shopping during the Children’s Christmas Shopping Tour, thanks to funds raised by the Salisbury Jaycees Foundation. Participating children are recommended by their school guidance counselors. Nearly 200 volunteers from Salisbury University, the Salisbury Baptist Temple and other community institutions and organizations recently helped make the 39th installment of this event possible.
Not every child shops exclusively for himself or herself. Many use the event as an opportunity to purchase gifts for family members. After they are done shopping, children may have one gift of their choosing wrapped before continuing on to a party room, where snacks, games, coloring pages and cartoons await.
